2022 Antimicrobial Resistance 2nd Quarterly Meeting

On Friday, 19 August 2022, the Zambia National Public Health Institute (ZNPHI) through the Antimicrobial Resistance Coordinating Committee (AMRCC) and selected stakeholders held a 2022 Quarterly meeting to discuss various issues related to Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR). The coordinating meeting was held in Lusaka and comprised a One Health team to review the performance of the AMR National Action Plan (NAP).

In addition, the AMRCC committee discussed the Action Plan for the forthcoming third (3) quarter of 2022 with the following proposal:

To institute an AMR data repository for centralised data banking.

To raise more awareness on Antimicrobial Resistance using a newly drafted AMR communications strategy.

Present in the meeting was the AMR Chairperson Professor Roma Chilengi, Director General of ZNPHI and Co-chairperson Dr Geoffrey Muuka, Director of Veterinary Services.

Other participants included ZNPHI Directors: Mrs Mazyanga Mazaba Liwewe, Director of Communications Information and Research; Dr Kunda Musonda, Director of Laboratory Systems and Networks; and Dr Joseph Chizimu, AMR National Focal Person and Coordinator.

The meeting also involved focal point personnel for Human Health and Animal Health, Dr Chileshe Lukwesa and Dr Geoffrey Mainda, respectively, Environmental Health Specialist Mr Rodwell Chandipo and other representatives from various partners.
